TGI Fridays Files For Bankruptcy Weeks After Sudden Closures Of At Least 12 Restaurants Casual dining chain TGI Fridays has filed for bankruptcy several weeks after at least 12 of its restaurants suddenly closed. The company filed the Chapter 11 petition on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Texas, near its Dallas headquarters. Founded in New York City in 1965, TGI Fridays has 95 restaurants in the US, 39 of which the company owns and operates. The other 56 are independent franchises not involved in the bankruptcy petition. Popular Eatery Will Return To CT With Location Owned By Engaged Couple A pair of longtime Melting Pot fans are bringing the chain's award-winning fondue back to Connecticut after the state's only location closed in March.  Melting Pot, an eatery famed for its fondue cooking styles, is currently scouting locations for a new location in the city of New Haven, according to Collin Benyo, a franchise growth strategist at Melting Pot. Connecticut Could Soon Get A 12th Chick-fil-A Connecticut may soon get its 12th Chick-fil-A. Plans have been submitted to the town of Manchester to open a restaurant at The Plaza at Buckland Hills on Pleasant Valley Road over by the Taco Bell. If approved Chic-fil-A, a fried chicken franchise, would construct a new 5,000-square-foot restaurant with parking. Connecticut already has 11 Chick-fil-A’s including locations in West Hartford, Enfield, and North Haven.
