It happened around 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 in Darien on the northbound side between exits 10 and 11. The person killed was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred on Route 34 (Berkshire Road) in the area of Jordan Hill Road in Newtown at about 2 a.m. Sunday, June 23, said Lt. Aaron Bahamonde of the Newtown Police Department. Police say that the older model Jeep Cherokee had driven off the westbound shoulder of Route 34 into a hundred foot, heavily wooded ravine, according to police. Two Killed In Fairfield County During Storm Two Fairfield County residents were killed and several injured as a high-powered storm system ripped through the area downing trees and power lines. A 41-year-old New Fairfield woman was killed around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Brush Hill Road when a tree fell on her vehicle, pinning her inside, said Connecticut State Trooper Sgt. Eric Haglund. Haglund said the woman's 3-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle but was not injured. The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Danbury Hospital. Her daughter was also transported for observation…

Connecticut Highways Rank Among Worst In Nation, Report Says Connecticut ranks among the bottom five states in the country in overall performance and cost-effectiveness, according to this new report released by a libertarian think tank.  The Reason Foundation published its 23rd Annual Highway Report on Thursday, Feb. 8.
