Metro-North Announces New Safety Improvements, Positive Train Control
The MTA has taken steps to ensure the safety of Metro-North riders. Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi announced that “Positive Train Control” has been extended to cover nearly 90 percent of the Hudson Line. All Hudson Line trains, including Amtrak and CSX, are now operating in Positive Train Control for the 67 miles between Marble Hill and Poughkeepsie. Roadwork To Affect Danbury Branch Train Service
Roadwork is expected to impact service on the Danbury Branch for consecutive weekends as crews complete a road realignment project, the MTA announced. From Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21; and Friday, July 26 and Sunday, July 28, Connecticut State Department of Transportation crews will realign the intersection of Long Ridge Road and Simpaug Turnpike in Redding to correct a severe skew that has caused safety issues, primarily on the highway. Metro-North Train Hits Unoccupied Car On Danbury Branch In Redding
REDDING, Conn. — A Metro-North train hit an unoccupied car on the tracks in Redding along the Danbury Branch late Friday, according to the News-Times. No injuries were reported in the incident, but train service was suspended until early Saturday, the News-Times said.
