CT Man Uses Forged Checks To Spend $5K At Costco, Police Say
A 31-year-old Connecticut man was nabbed for allegedly using several forged checks to spend $5,000 at Costco, police say.
Daniel H. Falvey, age 31, of East Hartford, was charged on Thursday, March 28, on an active warrant and charged with larceny and issuing a bad check.
According to Sgt. Mark Cleverdon of the South Windsor Police, Falvey's arrest stems from a January investigation in which police found he used several forged checks from an East Hartford business to purchase the items at Costco.

A company is recalling millions of units of fruit gummies that were sold in stores nationwide after receiving reports of the cap popping off with force, causing injuries.
On Wednesday, March 16, Reckitt recalled 63 and 75 count bottles of Airborne Gummies, which were sold in blueberry pomegranate, orange, and assorted fruit flavors, according to an announcement on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission's website.

A company has recalled several cream puff products due to the potential presence of small metal fragments.
Poppies International, Inc. recalled several products made from Tuesday, Dec. 7, through Friday, Dec. 10, after the issue was discovered during production, according to an announcement on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
The recalled products were available for sale from Thursday, Dec. 16, through Thursday, Dec. 23, the company reported.

Widespread Internet Outage Affects Google, Amazon, Other Major Websites
Some of the largest websites in the world were knocked offline at around midday Thursday, July 22.
The outage rendered financial, travel, retail, and gaming sites unavailable for a brief amount of time.
Google, Amazon, Fidelity, Costco, Delta Air Lines, British Airways, and Capital One -- and even the official Olympic website -- were all affected.

Bethel Couple Accused Of Embezzling Money From Baseball Association
A Fairfield County couple has been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $25,000 from an area youth baseball association.
Kurt Dyer, 51, and Jennifer Dyer, 47, both of Bethel, were arrested on Thursday, April 16, on outstanding warrants for larceny following a complaint by the Bethel Baseball Association, a private children's baseball association, said Bethel Police Lt. George J. Bryce, Jr.
The arrests came after the organizations new treasurer found several questionable transactions during a financial review, Bryce said.

Leafy Greens With Listeria Sold At Area Grocery Stores, New Test Reveals
Listeria has been found in leafy greens from a variety of grocery store chains in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, according to Consumer Reports.
The nonprofit organization says six of 284 samples bought from Acme, Costco, Hannaford and Whole Foods stores were tainted with listeria monocytogenes. The items purchased included lettuce, spinach, and kale.
Consumer Reports says it found the bacteria in both unbagged and prewashed products.
