It's kind of a pig deal! A Connecticut zoo welcomed five Guinea hog piglets over the weekend. The piglets were born on Saturday, April 9, at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo in the Fairfield County city of Bridgeport, the zoo announced on Thursday, April 14. The piglets' parents are Harry Plopper, who is the Zoo's elected animal mayor, and Ethel, one of Harry's companions in the farmyard, the zoo said. Fairfield County's Beardsley Zoo Mourns Death Of Beloved Red Panda Rochan At Age 7
Connecticut is in mourning after a family member at the Beardsley Zoo in Fairfield County had to be put down amid a health scare. On Friday, Feb. 25, a spokesperson for the Bridgeport zoo announced that Rochan, a 7-year-old male red panda died the previous week after suffering health complications. Rochan was being monitored and treated for a condition affecting his ability to walk prior to his death, officials said, and an MRI found lesions on his spine, which further compromised his mobility. Critically Endangered Wolf Pups Born At Beardsley Zoo
Need somewhere upbeat to visit this winter? Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport has some howling good news: Three critically endangered wolf pups were born there Dec. 27, in a heated enclosure. Zoo staff installed a discreet camera to observe the pups' progress.
