Norwalk Police Officer Dies After Battling Cancer
Norwalk Police are mourning the loss of Officer Cesar Ramirez, a 32-year veteran of the department, who died following a short battle with brain cancer.
Ramirez, 71, who died Tuesday, Jan. 21, had dedicated his career to his community was well known by the residents and business owners, a GoFundMe page said.
"Officer Ramirez spent his years of service helping those in need and has positively impacted so many," said Sgt. Sofia Gulino, who started the fundraising effort. "He is a hero."
In early December 2019, Ramirez was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Michael DeLuca, 65, Of Norwalk, Greenwich Mail Carrier, Golfer, Dies
A retired mail carrier in Greenwich for 42 years and avid golfer, Michael J. DeLuca, died suddenly on Sunday, Sept. 15, at age 65.
He was born Sept. 24, 1953. DeLuca is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janice Husted DeLuca of Norwalk, and two children, Tatum DeLuca Sullivan (TJ) and Alyson Harrison (Todd); and their mother Sheryl Ann DeLuca (Frangione), along with two grandchildren, Marcus Todd Harrison and Riley Marie Sullivan.

A beloved Fairfield daycare owner is fighting the battle of her life and friends are helping through a GoFundMe account.
Deanna Herlihy, known to many as "Miss Dee," opened Curiosity Corner 19 years ago, but was forced to close it March 1, during her fight with metastatic breast cancer.

Area Student-Athlete Dies At 17 After Battling Cancer
A student-athlete who was entering his senior year at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers has died after a battle with cancer.
Brendan James Maguire, 17, of Patterson died on Monday, Aug 20. He had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma 14 months ago.
He played both basketball and baseball at Kennedy Catholic, where his courage and faith, displayed throughout his illness, inspired all those around him.

NORWALK, Conn. -- More than $165,000 had been raised as of Tuesday evening on a GoFundMe site launched last week for a Norwalk boy battling cancer.
Earlier this month, Michael Schneider was diagnosed with Metastatic Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system growing in his adrenal gland.
