Yale Student From Bethel Announces Plans To Run For Second District Seat

BETHEL, Conn. – Bethel resident Thomas Burke, a military veteran and a student at Yale, announced his Democratic candidacy for state representative in the 2nd District on Sunday, according to the Redding Pilot.

The district covers Bethel, Newtown, Redding and Danbury and the current representative is Republican Dan Carter, the Redding Pilot said.

A former Marine, Burke served in Iraq and Afghanistan after graduating from Bethel High School in 2007, reported the Redding Pilot.

Burke went on to graduate from Sacred Heart University and is currently a divinity student at Yale with plans to become a Congregational minister after graduation, the Redding Pilot noted.
