Maria Medina, 47, of Bethel, was charged with threatening, third-degree assault, criminal mischief and breach of peace. She was held on $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, police said.
Officers were called to 263 Greenwood Ave. at about 2 a.m. in response to a call about a disturbance, police said. Police said Medina began arguing with and hitting a person before threatening to kill the person, police said. She then grabbed a machete from a vehicle and began swinging it wildly, police said.
Medina used the machete to also damage the vehicle, police said. The extent of the damage and Medina's relationship to the other person were not released by police.
