Police ID Man Wanted In Stabbing Death Outside Bar In Fairfield County

An arrest warrant has been issued in Fairfield County for an undocumented Guatemalan national who has been implicated in a fatal stabbing outside an area bar.

The Stamford Police Department and is now trying to locate Samuel Delfiro Zapata-Herrera, who has a warrant out for his arrest for the stabbing murder of local resident Isaias Sagastume-Aceitu was found outside Reyes Bar and Restaurant on Stillwater Avenue over the weekend.

The Stamford Police Department issued an alert following a homicide on Sunday, Oct. 4 when Sagastume-Aceitun, 37, was found outside the bar following an altercation with Zapata-Herrera and another suspect.

According to police, officers were flagged down by a passerby shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 who alerted them that a man was nearby on Stillwater Avenue with multiple stab wounds.

First responders were dispatched to the area of 115 Stillwater Ave., where they located Sagastume-Aceitun, who was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said that Sagastume-Aceitun was at the bar before getting into a struggle with two men (seen in above video) who allegedly assaulted him. During the fight, Sagastume-Aceitun was repeatedly stabbed before stumbling away and collapsing down the road.

Police said that Samuel Delfiro Zapata-Herrera has only made short stays in Stamford and could be attempting to make his way back to Guatemala. He’s been described as being approximately 5-foot-10 weighing 190 pounds. No other descriptive information was provided.
