It was decided that based on this specific situation and out of an abundance of caution to both area residents and this individual’s personal safety, the Danbury Regional Emergency Unit was activated and responded to assist Newtown patrol officers on scene.
"We are happy to report, that shortly thereafter, this suicidal individual was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation," police said in a statement. "No criminal charges will be filed."
As part of this investigation, the Newtown Police seized numerous weapons from the residence and police said they will work with the local prosecutor's office for the future disposition of those seized weapons.
