Jason Adams, 46, of Currituck Road, Newtown, was detained by school security when he was found carrying a concealed weapon, the News-Times said.

Adams has a valid pistol permit, but violated state law and school policy, the News-Times said.

Adams was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Danbury on April 20.

Sandy Hook Elementary School was the scene of a shooting in which six educators and 20 first-graders were killed by a lone gunman, who also killed himself.
