The run will take place from about 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Runners will take the torch from the Bethel Police Department in the area of Dodgingtown Market. They will then run it down Route 302, onto Glover Avenue, make a left onto Queen Street, take a right onto Church Hill Road, and end at the Blue Colony Diner. The torch will then be passed onto State Police Troop A.
The Special Olympics Torch Run is a way to raise awareness and money for the Special Olympics of Connecticut.
"The Newtown Police Department would like to give special thanks to the Newtown Schools, St Rose School, NJK Automotive LLC, Faxon Law Group, Salon Michele and Castle Hill Chocolate for their generous donations which helped the Newtown Police raise over $4,000 for Special Olympics," Newtown Police said.
All are welcome to come out and support police on any portion of the run.
