NEWTOWN, Conn. — A fire burning in a mulch pit for three days is keeping crews from Botsford Fire and Rescue Department busy, according to a Facebook post.
The mulch pile is on Button Shop Road, the post said Wednesday. The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue has also assisted at the scene with an additional tanker.
The mulch pile continues to burn on the inside, and the fire occasionally reaches the surface and ignites, causing a heavy smoke condition in the area, the Facebook post said.
