Thomas Craughwell, 59, also was charged with failure to drive right after the crash, police told the News-Times.
Craughwell failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of .25 when taking a breathalyzer test an hour after the crash, reported the News-Times.
He was released on $500 bond and will be in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 15.
