The students were reportedly sending the images and videos through various chat apps such as snapchat and kik. They were also selling them for as much as $20 each, the News-Times reported.
The three who were arrested are facing charges of possessing child pornography, but they were not identified due to their ages, News-Times said.
The arrests came after a police investigation that began in May, NBC Connecticut said.
Another 20 students were referred to the juvenile review board, a community-based program in which juveniles must do community service instead of going through the judicial system, NBC Connecticut said.
