Too Close For Comfort? Fox Makes Return Visits To Newtown Backyard

NEWTOWN, Conn. — It was enough to startle the squirrel at the bird feeder — as well as a Newtown resident.

Who is watching whom? Two foxes in a Newtown backyard seem to be looking straight into the house.

Kate Grasso Pratt, a citizen conservation team member with the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary in Newtown, has spotted a pair of foxes multiple times in her Newtown backyard.

In a picture shot from the protection of the house, and through a screen, one fox can be seen grooming the other. In another, they are watching as they are being watched.

And one of the foxes has been back twice, Pratt says.

"One poor little squirrel was holding onto the feeder with all his might until the fox left," she said.
