Charles Cristofalo Jr., the 76-year-old homeowner, was found dead in the home at 11 Governors Lane after Bethel officers responded to a 911 hangup call, police said. His tenant, Thai Pham, 56, was found with life-threatening injuries and remained in the hospital Monday. Cristofalo's wife, Ahn, 68, was also shot but her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Police recovered a gun but did not say who had fired the weapon.
Police did not explain their relationship, but according to court records, Cristofalo had been trying to evict Pham since July, and the tenant had agreed to leave March 25, the day of the shooting, the News-Times reported.
The police investigation was continuing into the incident, which occurred in a one-story single-family home on on a cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood about a mile from the center of town.
