Daws Fall Festival In Bethel Is The Cat's Meow

BETHEL, Conn. – The Danbury Animal Welfare Society barked up the right tree and raised $500 at its first Fall Festival last month at its Bethel shelter.

“The purpose of the event was community outreach and education,” said Teryl Flynn, the operations director of DAWS.

More than 40 volunteers kept a variety of activities going, including a food truck, a bounce house, face-painting, and games for kids.

In addition to the fun, DAWS took the opportunity to educate visitors about pets and how to care for them. Educational information included tips on approaching unfamiliar pets, understanding animal body language, basic pet care, foods cats and dogs shouldn’t eat, pet wellness, and signs that a pet isn’t well.
