The black-and-white photos were installed Monday to offer a space for reflection as the town honors the 26 victims of the deadly attack on Dec. 14, 2012.
A sign on a table welcomes visitors.
“We ask that you spend a few minutes in quiet reflection as we remember the lives of these vibrant young children and caring adults who were part of the essence of this community as students, educator sand friends,” the sign said. “All of those so tragically killed on that day were greatly loved by their families and friends and they continue to be loved and missed every day.”
It is placed next to a framed print that shows the names of the victims printed in white against a green background in the shape of a heart. It is the logo on the website at MySandyHookFamily.org, which honors the victims of the deadly school shooting.
Festive and colorful paper cranes hang from the archways in the hallway above the rows of black-and-white photos.
In Newtown, all municipal offices, departments and agencies will be closed Thursday from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. for a brief period of silence and reflection in honor and remembrance. First Selectman Dan Rosenthal asked that people join in the brief respite top honor those who were lost that day.
An interfaith service will be held at Trinity Church in Newtown beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday. St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church will celebrate a Mass at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
