Newtown Woman Seeks Help Through GoFundMe In Battle Against Rare Sarcoma

NEWTOWN, N.Y. -- A GoFundMe page has been established to raise money for a Newtown mother diagnosed Dec. 2 with a rare form of cancer called soft tissue sarcoma.

The family of Lynn McKeen Mora has set up a GoFundMe to help pay household expenses while she is treated for cancer.

"My mother Lynn is the light of my life," says the daughter of Lynn McKeen Mora in an appeal on the page which asks for help raising $20,000.

The money will help the family pay household expenses while the longtime social worker undergoes treatment.

She is a "dedicated wife and mother but she is committed to serving others," according to the information.

"Through the years she has taken in family friend’s children when in need, and will never pass up the opportunity to help a stray rabbit. Mom is the glue of our family."

Treatment is still being discussed for Mora and may include an indefinite stay in the hospital.

It is unclear whether she will be able to return to work so funds are needed to help pay for "primary financial support of the household" while she undergoes treatment."
