Band members Robert Are and Martin Ear have now turned their attention to political issues and are donating the proceeds of the sale of their album to causes they believe in.
Last week, the proceeds went to Planned Parenthood. A week before that, the beneficiary was the American Civil Liberties Union.
The ACLU was chosen specifically to fight President Donald Trump's executive order, which has been placed on hold, that would bar travelers, immigrants and refugees from seven Muslim-majority nations, Are told Daily Voice.
The bandmates, he said, are also worried that important Planned Parenthood services such as preventing unwanted pregnancies, conducting medical tests such as HIV tests, Pap tests and breast exams, and medical treatments will disappear under the new Trump administration.
"I have been supporting both organizations my whole adult life," Are said. "We feel that they need our support now more than ever. Both organizations do an incredible amount of good for countless people, yet both have lately come under attack by people who do not seem to understand their purposes, their missions, why they came to exist in the first place — and how much good they do in so many different ways."
He said that many don't seem to understand the mission of Planned Parenthood "and how very, very many people they help," he said. "We feel that they need our support more than ever under the current administration."
He said he hopes the music brings public awareness to their efforts and political causes.
"The mandate of the ACLU is to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. It seems to us that there many people who talk about their Constitutional rights without apparently understanding exactly what those rights are," Are said.
"We feel that they need our support more than ever."
Are also encouraged fans to "do their own research, to separate fact from fiction. Get online, go to the ACLU website, the Planned Parenthood website, go to bipartisan fact-checking sites. Learn for yourselves what is true and what is 'alternative fact'."
He said he hopes listeners will enjoy the album, which is free for streaming and then can be downloaded for a $7donation.
