The camp, which is in Oxford, is operated by Girl Scouts of Connecticut. It is licensed by the State of Connecticut and accredited by the American Camp Association.
The camp offers activities for its girls at its 55-acre outdoor center. Girls can sample culture and learn different skills in outdoor cooking, food prep and safety, and take away a passport filled with recipes to take home with the program International Food Traveler,.
They can chart the stars, build a rocket and then pack their gear with the Trip to Mars program. They can refine their outdoor living skills in fire building, shelter making and trail signs at Girl Scout Survival Camp.
Throughout the summer, girls will develop leadership qualities, learn and practice outdoor skills, receive instructional swim and more.
Younger girls begin their camp experience by leading songs and playing games. Girls in grades 9-12 can participate in a number of leadership programs.
Each member of the summer camp staff has been carefully screened and chosen for their skills and experience. All staff receives more than 30 hours of training in child development, team building, safety and risk management.
All girls in grades K-12 are welcome at Camp An-Se-Ox, which offers daily bus transportation from Danbury and Newtown, as well as Monroe and Shelton.
