NEWTOWN, Conn. — Friends of a 27-year-old Newtown woman who died in a motorcycle crash are rallying to help her 4-year-old son while mourning and preparing for her funeral services on Friday.

"On April 23, 2017, my dear friend Jackie took her last ride," her friend Ashley Hubbard posted on a GoFundMe page in tribute to her friend, Jackie Schulz.

Schulz was killed while riding her 2010 Harley-Davidson Sportster on Currituck Road, Newtown police said. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, when her Sportster hit a utility pole, police said.

Hubbard started a GoFundMe page to help Schulz's 4-year-old son, Cayden Richard. On the page, Hubbard fondly remembers her friend.

"After spending the day with her beloved son going on adventures which included looking at cool old motorcycles (which they both adored) and playing with the new litter of puppy's at Peepaws house, she dropped off her sweet boy and went out on her bike," Hubbard wrote.

Schulz loved everything about motorcycles, Hubbard wrote.

"Jackie was an unbelievable rider, if anyone had gasoline in their veins it's this chick. ... She was always trying to get everyone she met to buy a bike and come ride, she truly loved it and wanted to share it with others. It was her therapy," she wrote. "She had told me how freeing it felt, how alive and happy she felt when riding."

Hubbard also wrote of Schulz's beloved son.

"Anyone who knew Jackie (even the slightest bit) knew how much love and passion she had for life, but above all for her 4-year-old son Cayden Richard. Jackie was one of the best, patient, loving, 'cool moms' I had ever met," she wrote.

The mother and son shared a special connection.

"Jackie's zest for life, her way of living every moment to its full capacity, her radiant smile and loud contagious laugh, her wonderful personality... all is instilled in her son," Hubbard wrote. "They are two pees in a pod, cut from the same cloth."

Hubbard said the GoFundMe is to help support Cayden. "It will be a long hard road ahead but with the support of family, friends and everyone who donates I know Jackie's little Cayden will be more than taken care of for years to come."

Friends have raised $11,515 on the GoFundMe in the first day.

Services for Jackie Schulz will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, with a reception to follow.

"If you have a bike, ride it. Nothing would make her happier than looking down on us an seeing all of Main Street, Newtown, lined with bikes," said a post at the GoFundMe page. "Fellow bikers are welcomed and encouraged."
