But everything turned out great.

Jitka Edel-Vankova had gone into labor Thursday and called her doctor, Dr. Ronika Choudhary, as she was on her way to Bridgeport Hospital with her husband, Joel, WTNH said.

Choudhary, an OG/BYN in Trumbull, stayed on the phone as she headed for the hospital, WTNH said. When it became clear that the baby would arrive soon, the doctor pulled over on Route 25 and waited for her patient.

“Honestly, crazy. Crazy. Not happening — and it was happening,” Edel-Vankova told WTNH.

The doctor helped deliver her daughter, baby Mila Edel, who arrived safely, WTNH said.

Mother and baby were taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital. It was her third child.
