"The cuisine is Italian-based but not traditional Old School," he said. "We do a lot of small plates and creative items."
That means diners can expect items such as oysters and other raw bar items, burrata caprese, ricotta gnocchi, and housemade pastas. There is also an extensive wine list with 31 wines by the glass.
Furnari lives in Newtown — and his two partners, Lenny Manchisi and Robert Marini, hail from Shelton and Trumbull respectively. He had hoped for a second location closer to "home;" this one came about sooner rather than later. "We saw the opportunity and didn't want to lose it," said Furnari.
The three also own Tazza Osteria in Fairfield, which has been there just shy of two years.
Coming up for the eatery: special events and promotions including half price bottles of wine on Monday and Thursday night live acoustic music starting at 8:30 pm.
