120,000 Titles Stacked Up For Book Sale At C.H. Booth Library In Newtown

NEWTOWN, Conn. —  The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown will hold its 41st Annual Book Sale this weekend.  

The nonfiction books are sorted for sale at Reed Intermediate School in Newtown. The sale is held by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library.

The sale will feature over 120,000 books, DVDs, CDs, LPs and more. The sale includes over 90 categories of books, including art, children's, cooking, fiction, history & military, mystery, sci-fi, style, teen, thrillers and trade paperbacks. 

The sale is held at Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane, Newtown.

The sale will be held July 9 through July 13. Here are the hours:

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday (half-price day)
  • 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday ($5 per bag)
  • 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday (Free Day)

Admission is $5 on Saturday only, 18 and under are free. Numbered admission tickets go on sale July 9 at 7 a.m.

Many books, including adult fiction, are alphabetized or organized by subcategories. DVDs have been electronically scanned to ensure they are playable.

Credit cards are accepted at the sale. Special assistance is provided for large volume buyers. Scanners and other electronic devices are welcome on the sale floor only. Stockpiling and "clearing" are not permitted.

The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library is a nonprofit group that supports the public library in Newtown. The core group of about 25 volunteers through book sales, Amazon sales, and Little Book Store receipts provide $120,000 per year to the library.
