Michael’s at the Grove on 42 Vail Road in Bethel, which was recently purchased by Linda and Michael Shakro, is hosting a Christmas Show called “Home for the Holidays.”

The show, which will be performed at noon Sunday, Dec. 4, and at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, is a musical comedy about a family who tries to spread Christmas cheer to those who are less fortunate, but in return, get much more than they bargained for.

There will be a four-course meal between acts. The price ranges from $58 to $68.

Michael’s at the Grove took over the former location of Capellaro's Grove -- which had been a fixture in Bethel since 1911 but closed in 2014. The Shakros began renting the venue in 2014 and purchased the business earlier this year.

Michael’s at the Grove offers catering services for any type of celebration, including baby showers, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries, as well as bar and bat mitzvahs and corporate and family picnics.

The couple said that being a family-owned business sets them apart in the industry.

“We treat you like family," Linda Shakro said.

“A family member is here for every event. We work with you from the day you call in to book your event to the end of the event.

“We are involved personally,” she said. “We make sure the event is done the way our customers want it done and help them with suggestions along the way,” she added.

She went on to say, “We pay attention to every detail. We want to make sure our customers are comfortable, happy and have a good experience with us."

The couple’s three grown children — Melissa, 32, Tiffany, 30, and Michael, 26 — as well as Michael Shakro’s brother and nephews and Linda Shakro's niece — all work in some capacity at the business.

“Having our children involved in the business, they appreciate what we have done and understand what it takes to make a small business work," Linda Shakro said.

The 10,000-square-foot venue seats 200 in its ballroom and 350 in its seasonal pavilion — which contains an olympic-size pool and cabana — and holds up to 1,200 people for corporate picnics.

Have a birthday coming up? Michael’s at the Grove will serve up free chicken wings -- one for each year of the customer’s age.

Aside from Michael’s on the Grove, the couple also owns Michael’s II Cafe at 30 South St. in Danbury. The cafe, which opened in 2009, offers a variety of sandwiches and wraps, as well as flat bread pizza, steak, chicken and seafood.

The Shakro's son Michael operates Michael’s II Cafe.

Michael Shakro previously owned and operated a deli in Sears and Michael’s One Stop Variety store on Main Street.
