Tractor-Trailer Crash Causes Hours-Long I-95 Delays In Darien This story has been updated. There were delays of around two hours on a stretch of I-95 after a tractor-trailer crash in Fairfield County. The crash happened on the northbound side Friday morning, Aug. 21 at around 4 a.m., initially shutting down all lanes in Darien between Noroton Avenue/Exit 10 and Route 1/Exit 11. One lane reopened around daybreak with traffic backed up to Harvard Avenue/West Avenue (Exit 6) in Stamford. The highway did not fully reopen until the end of the morning commute.

Two Stamford Men With Long Records Busted With Loaded Guns During Stakeout Two men, both allegedly with long criminal records, were busted with loaded handguns after police received a tip. Brandon Turner, 25, and James Johnson, 23, both of Stamford, were busted after the Stamford police NARC and Organized Crime Squad received information on Sunday, May 31, that Turner would be in the area with a gun, said Capt. Richard Conklin. According to Conklin, the unit received information that Turner would be driving a 2015 Kia Optimum and carrying a handgun. Former HS Football Co-Captain ID'd As Stamford Homicide Victim Police have identified the 18-year-old victim shot to death on Thursday as a former Stamford High School varsity football co-captain. Capt. Richard Conklin said that Antonio Robinson was shot at 8:45 p.m. Thursday at West Avenue and Baxter Street.  Antonio Robinson was a free safety for the Knights for several years ending in 2017, and a co-captain for the team.  His murder was the first in the city in 18 months. Vincente Saez was nabbed after the squad received intel that he was on his way to Bridgeport to pick up drugs which he would then resell in Stamford, said Capt. Richard Conklin. Officers performed a background check on Saez and found he had nine arrests from 1981 to 1993, mostly for drug sales and weapons violations, Conklin said.
