Metro-North Service Changes, Buses Scheduled During Danbury Branch Upgrades
Buses will be replacing trains for some Metro-North riders in Fairfield County next week. The MTA announced that beginning on Monday, Oct. 1, through Friday, Oct. 5, crews will be making safety upgrades and improvements to the Danbury Metro-North Branch. In response, buses will be substituting for select, off-peak weekday trains. Between 9 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. each day, buses will substitute for all trains departing from Danbury to South Norwalk southbound, making all scheduled stops to South Norwalk. 300-Plus CT Bridges Are Structurally Deficient, Report Says
A total of 308 local and state-maintained bridges in Connecticut are structurally deficient, meaning there is significant deterioration to the major components of the bridge. The report from TRIP, a national transportation research group, was released Thursday, Sept. 20 in Hartford. According to this new report, 61 of Fairfield County's bridges are deficient. I-84, I-684 Ramp Closures Scheduled
There will be overnight ramp closures on I-684 and I-84 in Putnam County for several days, beginning this week. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning on Monday, Aug. 13, there will be ramp closures on the interstates in Southeast, as contracting crews continue a pavement and resurfacing project in the area. The closures are expected to last through Thursday, Aug. 16. Officials said that each night, the I-684 southbound ramp to Exit 9E/W (I-84) will be closed. Positive Metro-North News? Service Suspended For Train Safety Upgrade
If you ride the train between New Canaan and Stamford, plan on taking a bus, ride-share or driving home late tonight, and over the weekend. MTA Metro-North Railroad announced that crews will install Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment on the New Canaan Branch this weekend, Friday Aug. 10 through Sunday, Aug. 12. CT Launching $10 Million Study Of Tolling
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed an executive order directing state agencies to conduct a $10 million study of Connecticut's transportation needs. Water Main Break In Greenwich Affects Morning Commute
A water main break is affecting the morning commute in Greenwich. The broken main was reported at 5:40 a.m. on Arch Street across from Horseneck Lane. The driveway ramp to Greenwich Plaza and the train station is closed, Greenwich Police said. Suspicious Package Leads To Metro-North New Canaan Branch Delays
Some Metro-North commuters got held up early on Tuesday morning as police investigated a suspicious bag that led to delays on the New Canaan line. MTA police investigators were dispatched to the New Canaan Metro-North station at approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning following reports of an unattended bag. The subsequent police investigation led to delays of more than a half hour for commuters traveling from New Canaan to Stamford. The bag was ultimately deemed safe and trains were operating normally shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Service has been partially restored on most Metro-North Railroad lines after downed trees on local tracks forced MTA officials to suspend operations on Wednesday night.
