19: Here's Percentage Of Americans Planning A Big Thanksgiving
Nearly 40 percent of Americans are planning to eschew COVID-19 safety protocols and host large Thanksgiving celebrations, despite the new surge in cases, according to a new national survey. Despite the pandemic, 38 percent of respondents surveyed by the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center said that they are planning a holiday gathering with more than 10 people, which is against the guidance of most health officials. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is now advising Americans not to travel for Thanksgiving and to avoid being with people from outside the household for the holiday. 19: UConn Expands Quarantine To Entire Residential Campus In Storrs
As COVID-19 numbers continue to climb, the University of Connecticut has mandated that its main campus in Storrs be quarantined for the entire residential community. Associate Vice President and Dean of Students Eleanor JB Daugherty said a modified-type quarantine will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, and will last until the halls close for the Thanksgiving break on Saturday, Nov. 21. Millions of Americans won’t be hitting the road or flying out to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family this year as the country continues combating the new surge in COVID-19 cases. As COVID-19 continues to surge across Connecticut and the rest of the country, Sacred Heart University is transitioning to remote learning after receiving reports of dozens of new cases. University officials announced over the weekend that there have been 88 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 66 students on campus, 21 off-campus, and one staffer.
