Man Dies After Crashing Car, Attempting To Swim Across Pond In Tolland County
A Connecticut man who crashed his Chevy Malibu and then attempted to swim across a pond to get away died in the water. The incident occurred in Tolland County around 10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, in Vernon. Vernon Police Lt. Robert Marra said officers responded to the crash on Snipsic Street and East Main Street. When they arrived, Marra said they found the unoccupied Malibu with significant front-end damage. Officers began to search for the driver. A 7-year-old girl was killed and her father injured during a massive house fire in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out in Norwalk around 5 a.m., Saturday, May 14 at 7 Nelson Ave. Arriving Norwalk firefighters found heavy fire on the front of the house, a burning power line down across the street, and two vehicles on fire in the driveway, said Assistant Fire Chief Edward McCabe of the Norwalk Fire Department. Lifeguards From Nearby Beach Club Attempt To Save Drowning Man In Fairfield County
Four Fairfield County lifeguards are being honored for their efforts in attempting to save a drowning man who was thrown into the water from an overturned canoe. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 10, when land and marine units from the Stamford Fire Department, Stamford Police Department, and Stamford Emergency Medical Services responded to Long Island Sound, near the east side of Shippan Point for a report of an overturned canoe with people in the water, said Captain Philip Hayes.
