Thousands Expected For Annual Oyster Festival In Norwalk The 42nd annual Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors for performances, food, and fun. Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot, and Brian Howe will take the night off from performing with Billy Joel to headline the festival. The event, Friday, Sept. 6, Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8 is held at Veteran’s Park, adjacent to Norwalk Harbor on Seaview Avenue in Norwalk. Amistad Moored Off Sheffield Island In Norwalk Through Mid-August Named for a slave revolt in 1839 (and popularized in a 1997 Steven Spielberg movie), the tall ship Amistad is currently moored off of Sheffield Island in Norwalk.  Each summer this vessel becomes a floating classroom with a crew of eight high school students who remain on the ship for about two weeks along with the captain. In addition to getting a firsthand lesson in American history, the students also come away with many team-building experiences that are learned when sailing this massive ship.
