High School Athlete In Fairfield County Dies At Age 17 The community is mourning the death of a 17-year-old Fairfield County student-athlete who is being remembered by friends and family as being an avid lover of the outdoors. Darien resident Matthew Barket McEvoy died on Thursday, March 31. A Darien High School student, McEvoy played on the varsity lacrosse team, and enjoyed mountain biking, skiing, and had an interest in cars - both old and new. McEvoy spent his summers playing tennis, sailing and swimming at the Tokeneke Club, according to his family.
