Man Killed After Crash In Connecticut Post Mall Parking Lot A Connecticut man died after a single-vehicle crash in the parking lot of a shopping area after hitting a tree. John B. Kane, age 56, of Derby, was killed around 11:49 a.m., Monday, April 26, in the parking lot of the Connecticut Post Mall, in Milford, said the Milford Police Department. Trailers Full Of 4,000 Pounds Of Bleach, Vegetables Catch Fire In CT Four tractor-trailers packed full of bleach and vegetables were damaged by fire and one firefighter was taken to the hospital at an area truck stop. The fire began around 1:55 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Pilot Travel Center on Old Gate Lane in Milford, said the Milford Fire Department. Bridgeport Resident ID'd Who Died While In Police Custody A 31-year-old man who died while in police custody over the weekend has been identified. Justin Griffin, of Bridgeport, died early Sunday, Jan. 5, following his arrest on Saturday, Jan. 4, by Milford Police, said Connecticut State Police. Man, Dog Rescued After Falling Through Ice At Park In Milford A local man fell through an ice-covered pond while attempting to rescue his dog Tuesday morning while out for a walk. The incident occurred at Eisenhower Park in Milford, where the man was taking a walk with his dog, said Milford Fire Department Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi.  The dog had spotted a team of ducks on the frozen pond and began to chase them when he fell through an area of thin ice and was struggling to swim back to dry ground.  The dog's owner then attempted to navigate the ice in desperation to rescue his pet. Stratford's John Rich, 'Hero To Canines,' Dies At 56 John Edward Rich, 56, a hero to canines and their human companions in town, died Friday, Jan. 26 at Bridgeport Hospital.  The cause was complications from diabetes, a disease that he battled for years. Mr. Rich was born Oct. 15, 1961 in Bridgeport, the son of Carol (Taylor) Rich and the late John B. Rich, Jr. of Stratford. He grew up in Lordship and was a life-long resident of Stratford. Mr. Rich had a passion for helping people. He was a dedicated boy scout and went on to be an active member of Explorer Post 77, where he spent several years as a first aid counselor at a camp for intellec…
