A 39-year-old woman accused of stealing artifacts, chainsaws, books, and more from a Connecticut home was caught after leaving behind an energy drink with her DNA on it, police said.
Fairfield County resident Jessica Thompson of Newtown, age 39, was arrested on Tuesday, July 16 in connection with a Litchfield County burglary reported in September 2023, Connecticut State Police announced on Wednesday, July 17.

A day after the tragic news that a former Connecticut resident was one of five men who died when a submersible imploded near the Titanic wreckage, his stepson is recalling what a "kind" man he was.
Paul Henry Nargeolet, age 77, of New York City, lived in Litchfield County, in the town of Kent, for nearly a decade, as he took 37 trips to the doomed wreckage on salvage operations, including a couple in the Oceangate Titan.

31-Year-Old Killed In Two-Vehicle NY Crash Involving CT Man
A 31-year-old man was killed after being entrapped during a two-vehicle crash.
The crash took place around 5:15 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, in Amenia, said Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
According to Watterson, a preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2006 Ford Explorer driven by Felix Santiago, age 31, of Amenia, was traveling westbound on South Amenia Road when it crossed over the center markings and struck an eastbound 2016 Dodge Ram driven by Litchfield County, Connecticut resident William Watts, age 69, of Kent.

Police: Teen Nabbed For Stealing Two Vehicles, Crashing BMW, In New Canaan
A man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a Fairfield County home and stealing keys to a BMW, then stealing the vehicle and crashing it.
Charles Wood Wright, age 18, of New Canaan, was arrested on Sunday, July 11, following the crash which place on Heritage Hill Road, said the New Canaan Police.
According to police, officers responded to a crash involving a BMW which had struck a tree located off the road. When officers arrived, the vehicle was unoccupied and heavily damaged.

Here's How Many Are Still Without Power Two Days After Rain, Wind Storm
More than 1,000 Connecticut residents are still without power two days after a series of storms ripped through the region, flooding the area, downing trees and power lines.
As of just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, about 48 hours after the storms began, Eversource was still working to repair outages that continue to impact 1,035 of its 1,279,556 customers. United Illuminating was also still working on one outage in Woodbridge that was affecting three customers.

With tens of thousands of travelers driving through Connecticut during the Thanksgiving week, State Police are ramping up their plans to keep highways safe for all during the holiday rush.
Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 21, just after midnight, and running through Sunday, Nov. 25 at 11:59 p.m., state police will supplement its normal routine patrol personnel with additional Troopers throughout the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Woman Killed, Three Seriously Injured In Head-On Crash Near Route 7
A 22-year-old female passenger was killed after being ejected from an SUV in a head-on crash in Kent, Conn., on Friday evening, state police said.
A GMC Terrain and Lincoln Navigator collided on Skiff Mountain Road at the crest of a hill around 7 p.m., police said. The incident occurred near the Marvelwood School, just west of Route 7, near the border of Litchfield and Dutchess counties.
