Legislation that could bring a new casino to Bridgeport and the third casino to Connecticut may get a vote this week, officials said on Friday. "We have a couple of constituency groups really fighting for their constituents and we may have more discussion," said House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz, D-Berlin, during a press conference. MGM Grand announced plans for a $700 million seaside resort in Bridgeport and a job training center in New Haven, bringing an estimated 2,000 jobs. A Bridgeport casino is opposed by the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Indians, who own the Foxwoods and Moh…

Plans For Bridgeport Casino Now On Hold
Potential plans for a casino in Bridgeport have been put on hold by House Democrats who say they don't have enough time to muster support for the bill.House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz said in a press conference Tuesday that who should get the casino in the state is too complicated to undertake in the month remaining. The group also don't believe a request for proposal (RFP) could be developed in time. Aresimowicz, D-Berlin, made it clear he does not support issuing an RFP for a Bridgeport casino without a gaming plan. Instead, he is pushing a “comprehensive gaming strategy” that would include…
