Woman Found Stopped In Intersection Under Influence - Of Vanilla Extract, New Canaan Police Say A woman is facing a driving under the influence charge after New Canaan Police allegedly discovered her behind the wheel of a stopped vehicle in an intersection with her eyes closed. Police were dispatched to the intersection of Grove Street and Pine Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23 after hearing a report of a vehicle stopped in an intersection. Pair Face Drug Charges After New Canaan Stop A routine traffic stop for a driver that failed to obey a stop sign in New Canaan led to drug charges for a pair from Fairfield County who were found in possession of marijuana, hash and paraphernalia. Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, an officer from the New Canaan Police Department on patrol on Grove Street spotted Newtown resident Adam Joseph Robertson, 19, failing to obey a stop sign at the intersection of Richmond Hill Road.
