A suspect from Connecticut has been apprehended after a person was shot and killed on Long Island. The incident happened around 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in Freeport. Police responded to a shot spotter activation on West Seaman Avenue. When Freeport PD officers arrived, they discovered a 23-year-old man who had been shot. The victim, identified as Nassau County resident Tyrone Williams, 23, of Baldwin, was taken to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead by a hospital physician. IDs Released For Three Women Killed In Crash Involving Drunk Driver Near NY Event Venue
The identities have been released who three women who were killed after a crash involving a drunk driver in front of an event venue in New York, police said. At around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, May 21 on Long Island, a 2010 Lincoln Town Car with a driver and five occupants was struck in the eastbound lane of Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park by a 2012 Mercedes-Benz sedan occupied by only the driver, according to Nassau County Police. Man Nabbed For ID Theft In Fairfield County After Opening Credit Card Accounts, Police Say
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Fairfield County for alleged identity theft of an area resident in which he opened numerous credit card accounts and obtained a driver's license. Long Island resident Wesley Andrews, of Freeport, was arrested on Wednesday, April 7, in Wilton, said Wilton Police Lieutenant Gregg Phillipson. According to Phillipson, in January 2020, a Wilton arrested filed a complaint with Wilton Police that some had opened numerous fraudulent credit accounts in his name. Nearly Two Dozen Modell's Stores Slated For Closure
With online shopping leading to the demise of many traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, Modell’s Sporting Goods announced it will be closing nearly two dozen East Coast stores in an attempt to save the entire company. Eight Modell’s locations will be closing in New York - including one on Long Island - though the Hudson Valley avoided the chopping block. The move comes so the retailer can avoid filing for bankruptcy as soon as Sunday, March 1, according to reports. Body Of Missing Man Recovered From Pond
New update: The body of a man who went missing on Long Island has been recovered. The body of Dennis Jones, 40, of Freeport was pulled from the Milburn Pond on the Baldwin/Freeport border on Saturday, Dec. 28, Nassau County Police said. He was pronounced dead at 4:21 p.m., according to police. Jones had last been seen at his residence in Freeport on Ray Street on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. The investigation into Jones' death is ongoing. Line Of Strong Thunderstorms Sweeping Through Area Could Cause Flooding
A quick-moving warm front is bringing a new round of showers and thunderstorms to the area with a noticeable increase in humidity. Showers, along with patchy fog, arrived early in the morning Tuesday, June 25. A line of strong thunderstorms that could cause flooding is moving from west to east during the morning commute.
