The blaze started on the outside of the three-story home in Norwalk on East Beach Road around 11:15 a.m. Sunday, April 4, according to authorities. The fire began around 8:45 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at a home on Ravenwood Road, said Norwalk Fire Deputy Chief Todd Smith. When Norwalk firefighters arrived on the scene they found a raised, ranch house with fire billowing through the roof, the front door, and from the right side of the house, Smith said. Dog Rescued From Icy Waters Of Five Mile River In Darien DARIEN, Conn. — Darien police officers and firefighters rescued a dog from the icy waters of Five Mile River on Tuesday afternoon. The Darien Police Department and Darien Fire Department responded to Five Mile River on a report of a dog in distress. The dog had made its way to a small patch of grass but had become stranded when the tide came in, police said. The Darien Fire Department quickly donned cold water gear and used a nearby dinghy to reach the dog. It was then taken to shore and reunited with its owner. The dog was not injured in the incident.

Property DARIEN, Conn. -- A snow plow driver from Norwalk damaged a wooden guard rail at the Darien Fire Department last week, according to police. At around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday police responded to the Darien Fire Department on Post Road and met with a 29-year-old member. She told officers that Gregory Twardy, 49, of Norwalk had come earlier in the day with his pay loader to plow the snow in the rear lot of the fire department.
