Woman Swipes Money Orders Sent From Darien, Forges For Herself, Police Say A 31-year-old woman is accused of stealing money orders that were sent from a Fairfield County mailbox and pocketing the money for herself. Julissa Herrera, age 31, of the Bronx, turned herself in to Darien Police on Friday, Nov. 17, on an open warrant. According to investigators, the victim contacted police in July 2023 saying that two of her Western Union money orders had been stolen. She had placed the money orders into a USPS mailbox on Corbin Drive in Darien in April 2023, but later noticed that the funds never showed up in her bank account. Traffic Alert: Roadway To Close For Building Demolition In Darien Drivers in Fairfield County will need to adjust their travel route for more than a week as a 3-story building is demolished. Corbin Drive in Darien will be closed at Post Road beginning Monday, Sept. 25 through Tuesday, Oct. 3 for the demolition of the building at 10 Corbin Drive, Darien Police said. The road will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. The businesses located on Corbin Drive will be open and accessible during these times by using the Old King’s Highway South end of Corbin Drive, officials said.

The complainant stated that he dropped off an outgoing check to the U.S. Post Office at 30 Corbin Drive on Saturday, Jan. 13. The check was written for $63.69. Monday, Feb. 4, the complainant stated that the check had been altered and deposited in the amount of $1,730 by an individual not known to the victim, according to police.
