Two Shot, One Hit By Car During Memorial Day Block Party In Fairfield County, Police Say Two people were shot and one was hit by a vehicle during a large Memorial Day block party in Fairfield County. Officers responded to a report of shots fired in Bridgeport on Willow Street near Clermont Avenue where a large block party was taking place around 9:45 p.m., Monday, May 31. When officers arrived on the scene, they spotted a Black man wearing all black clothing with a hoodie displaying a gun who took off running toward Bridgeport Hospital, said Scott Appleby, the City of Bridgeport's Director of Emergency Management. Covid-19: Bridgeport Hospital Opens 'Appointment Only' Testing Site Residents with a doctor's order can now receive a COVID-19 test at Bridgeport Hospital with the activation of a new collection center. The center is being opened as an effort to minimize Bridgeport Hospital’s COVID-19 exposure and to ensure proper testing of patients that have received a physician’s order, said Scott Appleby, director of Bridgeport's Office of Emergency Management.
