The Nassau County Police Department received a report at approximately 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1 of a man and woman on a boat in need of assistance in Centre Island near Montecito Road. According to police, while swimming in the water, the woman, now identified as 47-year-old Tawanda Kali, of Stamford, became distressed and required assistance. Body Found Floating In Long Island Sound Near Unoccupied Boat The body of a man was discovered in the Long Island Sound near an unoccupied boat. It happened in the Gold Coast area along Long Island's North Shore on Sunday morning, May 17. At 8:20 a.m., police in Centre Island received a call about the boat floating in the water.
