Two Hospitalized In CT With Vaping Illness Being Reported Across US
As the teen vaping craze ontinues to grow across the country, two cases of severe respiratory illness have been linked to vaping in the state. Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control says there are currently at least 127 people in 15 states suffering from lung damage and difficulty breathing, linked to vaping. Some salads and sandwiches sold at Target and Fresh Market are being recalled due to a potential listeria scare. Elevation Foods announced that they are voluntarily recalling two brands, Archer Farms, and Freskt, which are sold at Target and Fresh Market nationwide. A Houston-based company announced a voluntary recall of certain hummus products that were distributed nationwide and may contain Listeria monocytogenes. Pita Pal Foods announced that it is recalling select brands of hummus products that were identified at the manufacturing facility as potentially dangerous during an FDA inspection. The Centers for Disease Control, U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Canadian Food Inspection Agency are investigating a multi-state outbreak of E. coli that has been linked to ground bison products. On Tuesday, July 16, Northfork Bison Distributons, Inc. announced that it is recalling bison produced between Feb. 22 and April 30 this year. Flesh-eating bacteria that live in the ocean could be spreading to East Coast beaches due to climate change, according to a new report. 681 Measles Cases In 22 States Breaks Record
The measles outbreak that has spread throughout the nation has reached the highest level in 25 years, officials announced this week. In total, there have been 681 measles cases reported in 22 states this year, according to health officials. Between Jan. 1 and Monday, April 21, the Centers for Disease Control said that there have been 626 individual cases confirmed, an increase of 71 in the past week. It's not too late to get that flu shot as the state's Department of Health reports a rapid and steady rise in the number of cases of flu throughout the state, with the number of deaths increasing as well. A salmonella outbreak linked to raw chicken has sickened 10 people in New York and 92 nationally so far. Nine have been sickened in New Jersey and Connecticut has one reported case, meaning nearly one-quarter of those affected from 22 states have come from the tristate area.
