Protesting under the banner of “Make Amazon Pay.” employees have walked off the job across six continents in 20 countries, including the United States.

A Connecticut Amazon employee has been charged with allegedly making a fake bomb threat, saying there was a bomb in the fulfillment center.
Fairfield County resident 32-year-old Michael Pierre, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Monday, July 29, for the Sunday, July 14 incident in North Haven.

A Fairfield County man has been sentenced to prison for defrauding Amazon for almost $750,000.
Oshane Steward, age 31, of Shelton, was sentenced on Tuesday, Sept. 5 to 18 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, said Vanessa Roberts Avery, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

A week before the holiday shopping season officially kicks off, Amazon is set to begin laying off approximately 10,000 corporate and technology employees, The New York Times reports.
Job cuts at the online retail giant were expected to start the week of Monday, Nov. 14, and will primarily affect Amazon’s retail, devices, and human resources divisions, according to the outlet.
