NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan U-13 boys soccer suffered its first loss of the season to a physical Weston side, 7-1, on Sunday. Weston started strong with continual pressure from the start, earning two corner kicks and the first goal within five minutes.
New Canaan, without its regular goalkeeper, started with Brian Hall. Hall pulled off three fantastic saves to keep the game close before changing over to Kevin Persky who also was impressive.
New Canaan threatened on a couple of occasions, namely via Will Davies' dribbling and setting up the NC strikers.Unfortunately, it was largely Weston's contest. They were up 3-0 at halftime, having dominated the ball possession.
It was more of the same in the second half, Weston building early pressure and scoring another three well taken goals. Second half NC keeper, Noah Rosello-Kero pulled off more great saves.
Weston finally saw a yellow card after continual fouls throughout the game. Lucien Tamboro scored from a perfectly taken free kick to take a consolation goal. After more goal mouth action at both ends, Weston scored late for the final margin.
New Canaan worked hard to the end with a strong performance from captain Chris Greene, battling midfield performances from Alex Lambrinos and Faustino Cortina. They also featured the pace and strength of Timmy Russo and Spencer DeVito and many runs from Will Davies.
