The St. Luke's boys basketball team's magic finally ran out Sunday in the finals of the New England Prepatory School Athletic Council tournament held in Worcester, Mass. In a rematch of the Fairchester Athletic Association finals, Hamden Hall exacted revenge for its conference loss and snapped St. Luke's nine-game winning streak. The Hornets held St. Luke's to its lowest point total of the year and denied the Storm the council title for the second straight year, 66-50.
Brandon Yarborough led St. Luke's in points again, but this time it was not enough. Hamden Hall's Victor Joshua led the Hornets and was named tournament MVP.
In head coach Brian Kriftcher's first year at the helm, St. Luke's finishes the season at 19-9 with an FAA title. A senior-laden team, including Yarborough and 1,000-plus career point shooter Steve Johnston, St. Luke's will have a different look next season.
