St. Luke's Heads Into New England Title Game

While St. Luke's path to the Fairchester Athletic Association title was full of drama, its march to the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council tournament championship has been just plain dominant. The fourth-seeded Storm tore through top-ranked Beaver Country Day (25-1) in the Class "C" NEPSAC semifinals Friday, 70-63, to return to the championship round for the second straight year.

St. Luke's went on an early 8-0 run and closed the half up 29-22. The Storm extended its lead to as many as 15 points at one point in the second half. St. Luke's defended well against Beaver Country Day's speed style of play. It was a drastic change of pace from the hard-hitting, low-post attack St. Luke's saw from Berwick Academy in the quarterfinals, but the Storm adjusted perfectly.

Brandon Yarborough continued his torrid postseason pace, collecting his third straight double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Both were team highs. The usual suspects also chipped in, with Steve Johnston adding 18 points and seven rebounds, and Josh Dugas 13 points and seven assists.

The Class "C" NEPSAC championship game will be a rematch of this season's FAA title game. St. Luke's takes on Hamden Hall at 2 p.m. Sunday at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Mass. St. Luke's was beaten by Boston Trinity in the 2010 NEPSAC finals.
