“The program is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field,” the league’s new release said.

Registration for the upcoming season began earlier this month and will run until Aug. 12, according to the league’s website. The season will start on Aug. 28 with practices, and the first games will come on Sept. 7.

Before the start of the season, the league will hold a combine Aug. 20 through 22 at Waveny Park from 4:30 to 6 p.m., a league release said. The combine is free for registered players and is a clinic for evaluations.

The league will be split between two divisions by grades, with kids in grades 3 through 5 in one and kids in grades 6 through 8 in the other. The coaches are all volunteers.

Visit the league’s website or contact League Director Steve Dayton at steven.dayton@newcanaanct.gov for more information.
