Trinity College freshman Alexa Pujol, a New Canaan resident who played at Greenwich Academy, was selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Ice Hockey Player of the Week.
Pujol, a goalie, stopped 38 shots in a 2-1 win over Norwich. She stopped 16 shots in the second period and 14 more in the third. Trinity scored two goals in the third period to pull out the victory.
Pujol is 3-0-1 in net for Trinity, which is 5-1-1 overall. She has allowed six goals, and her 96 percent save percentage is tops in the conference. Trinity returns to action Jan. 2 in a tournament in Massachusetts.
