NEW CANAAN, Conn. New Canaan High School graduate Kevin Macari wasted no time in making a good impression on his new team on college football's opening weekend. The former Rams captain caught a 44-yard touchdown pass in his first game for the Georgetown Hoyas in the fourth quarter of a 40-16 blowout over Davidson.
Macari led the team with two catches and 51 yards receiving. His touchdown was Georgetown's only passing touchdown on the afternoon. The Hoyas' option-style offense mostly ran the ball, with Nick Campanella rushing for three touchdowns.
Macari led all Connecticut high school receivers in 2010 with 20 touchdown receptions in the regular season. Macari added five more scores in the Rams' run to the Class L state finals.
Georgetown will be back in action Saturday when it hosts Lafayette. Macari will return to his home state in Week 3 when the Hoyas travel to Yale.
